Vaiko meets Obama in US

Chennai, July 12 (IANS) MDMK leader Vaiko has met US Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama in Chicago, a party release here said. Vaiko, on a private visit to the US, met Obama at a function. The two discussed a book Vaiko is writing on Obama.
While showcasing Obama as an achiever, the book describes the persecution and tragedies African-American people were subjected to for two centuries in the US.
Obama signed the draft of the book, which is titled “Yes, We Can”. Obama signed on the draft “Vaiko, Yes, We Can”, the release said.
“Your dynamism and charisma have touched the hearts of people in the remote corners of the world crossing the barriers of the continents,” the release quoted Vaiko as telling Obama.
The MDMK release had no word on the Indo-US civil nuclear deal, which Vaiko has been opposing while Obama has supported it.
