Uttar Pradesh gets new chief secretary

Lucknow, March 29 (IANS) Anoop Misra was Tuesday named the next chief secretary of Uttar Pradesh to succeed Atul Kumar Gupta who retires March 31.

A 1978 batch Indian Administrative Service officer, Misra is currently the state’s principal finance secretary-cum-industrial development commissioner.

Reputed as a brilliant and upright officer, he has held several prestigious appointments both in the state and the central governments. Misra also served with the World Bank in Washington on deputation.
