U.S. State Department Assistant Secretary Fernandez to travel to Malaysia and Indonesia next week
October 2nd, 2010 - 12:16 am ICT by BNO NewsWASHINGTON D.C. (BNO NEWS) – The U.S. State Department on Friday announced that Assistant Secretary for Economic, Energy, and Business Affairs Jose Fernandez will travel to Malaysia and Indonesia next week to discuss market opportunities.
Secretary Fernandez will visit the Asian nations from October 3 to 8. He will meet with government officials, private sector businessmen and Department of State Missions in the region to build support for opening markets to U.S. products as part of President Obama’s National Export Initiative.
In Malaysia, Fernandez will engage in talks with trade ministers on export and energy issues and will address students at UniRazak College regarding the Global Entrepreneurship Program.
In Indonesia, the Assistant Secretary will meet with Indonesian government representatives on trade, investment, and energy issues. He will participate in a roundtable with local law students.
Fernandez will also inaugurate the Joint Agriculture and Investment Forum where he will focus on innovation in agriculture through biotechnology.
