Philadelphia, Oct 10 (THAINDIAN NEWS) President Barack Obama is trying to rally the kind of support that saw him become the first black President of the United States.

On Sunday, the president will attend a rally in Philadelphia in what is seen as desperate attempt to get the support of the American populace back to his administration. The president’s popularity has dipped quite drastically in the recent times.

The Philadelphia rally is the second of four major rallies that has been arranged for the president to bring the kind of excitement that drew millions of first time voters and the youth to the Democrats. Last week, the president spoke to more than 17,000 live audience and further thousands that watched it on the screens at a rally that was held at Madison, Wis.

The Democrats are in a race against time to close the gap that the Republicans have taken in recent polls. Recent polls suggest that the Republicans are expected to win greater number of seats that will see the Republicans take the majority in the American Senate for the first time in several years. The Democrat’s only available chance seems to be convincing discouraged voters to turn up and vote on November 2.

Vice president Joe Biden will join Obama in the rally.
