Washington D.C, Feb 5, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The relationship between China and the United States has deteriorated in the recent days and President Barack Obama’s decision to meet Tibetan leader Dalai Lama might increase the bitterness in their relation. Though a large number of people have anticipated that the decision of President Barack Obama to meet Dalai Lama will not be beneficial for the United States’ relationship with China, it has been reported that the US President could not avoid the meeting for some crucial issue.
As per the reports, US President Barack Obama had to face several criticisms from the human rights groups as well as lawmakers of the United States for postponing the meeting with Dalai Lama earlier. It appears that the President, who had been subjected to some strong criticisms, does not want to incur them further and so he had to make such a decision.
Though the White House officials have confirmed the news of the US President Barack Obama’s meeting with Tibetan leader Dalai Lama, they have not yet reported the date or the time of the meeting. According to the reports, Dalai Lama is scheduled to visit Washington on February 17 to February 18, and would visit the White House sometime in these two days. The Tibetan leader, who had to face tremendous opposition in China, has been honored to receive the opportunity of meeting the US President. However, he has not yet made any comment on this issue. Though Dalai Lama has not yet expressed his views, the Chinese government had been extremely disappointed by the news of President Barack Obama’s meeting with Dalai Lama and have asked him to cancel the meeting.
