dalai-lama Washington DC, Feb 5 (THAINDIAN NEWS) There seems to be a meeting soon between the US President and Dalai Lama, despite objections from China. The relationship between US and China is far from smooth, and China warned the US, that if the US President Barack Obama goes ahead with his plan of meeting the Dalai Lama, then the relations between the two countries would only deteriorate further.

The meeting between the 2 leaders is said to take place later this month. When China learned of the development, then without wasting time, it asked the US administration to cancel the meeting immediately, else the bilateral ties between the 2 countries would be severely affected. China has always pointed a finger at the Dalai Lama, for his stance on the Tibetan independence. And Dalai Lama has always denied this accusation. China also wants that any country, which wants to have bilateral ties with it, should shun the Tibetan leader Dalai Lama.

Dalai Lama would visit Washington DC on February 17-18. It is still not clear whether the US President would meet the monk in the Oval Office, or in a less formal place.
