Urban MeyerDec.27, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The football coach of University of Florida, Urban Meyer, has decided to step down from his elite position. This news was broken to the Florida state during the Gator Bowl Welcome Dinner, which was held on Dec. 26th in Jacksonville. The coach had earlier said that “this day was coming sooner or later”. The 50-year-old man gave health reasons for taking this decision. He further said that he would be staying for the current Sugar bowl before he leaves coaching for good. His announcement, made on Saturday, has left Utah and Ohio people in dismay.

Steve Tate, who is a former defensive for the team, said that the team never believed when the coach used to say he would be quitting soon. The man responsible behind the 22-2 record for the team spoke about giving his “heart and soul” to the team’s coaching. Bobby Bowden, went on to exclaim his surprise at the news and said that he just wished that the coach was “ok physically”. Bobby Bowden, further complimented the soon-to-be-retired-coach saying “..he’s done a great job at the University” and also said that he had full admiration for the man and the “way he handles himself”.

Urban Meyer has proved to be a boon for the team and is referred to as the best coach who has come the way of the Florida Gators. According to stats, his winning percentage is somewhere around the periphery of 85%. It has been revealed that the coach is not in any kind of immediate danger from bad health and will continue to take a ‘non-coaching role in the team’s athletic program.
