UPA leaders meet on Lokpal begins

Manmohan Singh New Delhi, Dec 13 (IANS) The leaders of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) began a key meeting here Tuesday to discuss the Lokpal bill.

The meeting began around 8 p.m. at Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s 7, Race Course Road residence, Congress sources said.

Besides Manmohan Singh, Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Nationalist Congress Party leader Sharad Pawar, DMK leader T.R. Baalu and other leaders are attending the meeting.

The UPA is trying to evolve a consensus on the Lokpal bill so that it can put up a joint stand at the all-party meeting on the issue Wednesday.
