UPA is in unenviable mess of its own making: Advani

New Delhi, Oct 3 (IANS) Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader L.K. Advani Monday said the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance government (UPA) is in an “unenviable mess” of its “own making”.
“I said (at the national executive of BJP) that in the country today, not only in the media but also among the people, opinion is unanimous that the UPA government is in an unenviable mess,” he said in his latest blog.
He said that in the meeting he had also commented on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s remarks on the opposition being “impatient” to see the UPA out in order to have an early poll.
“This fact is also widely recognised that the mess is of the Congress’s own making. I described the UPA government as being ‘in a suicidal mode’,” he said.
He was referring to the 2G note by the finance ministry headed by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee which says Home Minister P. Chidambaram could have prevented spectrum from being given away at throwaway prices by insisting on its auction in 2008.
The note led to reported differences between the two key ministers in the Manmohan Singh government. Finally, Congress chief Sonia Gandhi had to intervene to end the crisis, which has given the opposition additional fuel to target the ruling party.
