Unfortunate that Trinamool abstained from vote: Left

Kolkata, March 9 (IANS) West Bengal’s ruling Left Front Tuesday criticised Trinamool Congress’ decision to abstain from the voting process for the women’s quota bill in the Rajya Sabha and termed its stand as “unfortunate”.
“It’s extremely unfortunate that Trinamool Congress has decided to abstain from the voting to the women’s quota bill today (Tuesday) in the Rajya Sabha,” state Left Front chairman Biman Bose said at a press conference here.
“Trinamool Congress is a party led by a woman and Railways Minister Mamata Banerjee is the party supremo. If that political party does not take part in the voting process, it’s really unfortunate,” Bose said, adding that Tuesday was the “historic” day for the Indian democracy as the women’s quota bill was passed in the upper house of parliament.
The Trinamool Congress is the second largest party in the ruling United Progressive Alliance (UPA) coalition, with 19 MPs in the Lok Sabha. It has two MPs in the Rajya Sabha - Minister of State for Shipping Mukul Roy and Swapan Sadhan Bose.
