UAE charity distributes aid to Uzbek refugees
June 21st, 2010 - 10:14 pm ICT by IANSTashkent, June 21 (IANS/WAM) The UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA) has distributed humanitarian aid to Uzbek refugees at the relief camps on the Uzbekistan-Kyrgyzstan border.
Food, medicine and blankets were provided, and efforts are being made to provide drinking water, said RCA secretary general Saleh Al Taei.
The RCA team visited the main government hospital in the Andijan city to inquire about the status of the refugees there.
Thousands of people have been displaced from their homes in ethnic violence in Kyrgyzstan.
