UAE asks schools to hoist national flag, sing anthem
September 1st, 2009 - 9:47 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Dubai, Sep 1 (IANS) The schools in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) must hoist the national flag and sing the national anthem before beginning the day’s activities, WAM news agency reported Tuesday.
The latest government measure is effective from the current academic year 2009-2010.
All government and private schools must follow the directive, according to a circular issued by Education Minister Humaid Al-Qattami Tuesday.
The measure would help instil the spirit of nationalism and patriotism among school students, the report said.
