Jan 20, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The citizens of Arizona witnessed the death of six people on Tuscon shooting on January 8, 2011. 14 other people were also wounded as the gunman Jared Lee Loughner sprayed bullets in a meeting at a busy supermarket. U. S. Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, who was the prime target of this assassination was shot in her brain and was critically injured after that. However, the doctors were optimistic about her and on Wednesday, she managed to stand on her own feet for the first time following the tragic incident. The doctors in the University Medical Center, where she is treated at said that Gabrielle Giffords made remarkable progress in just 15 days and on Friday, she is expected to be released from the hospital.
However, the doctors said that the U. S. Representative will be transferred to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, where she will be treated further for her brain injury. Dr. Peter Rhee, one of the physicians of the hospital told a reputed media source that Gabrielle Giffords has made a sharp progress and her husband Mark Kelly has claimed that she would be able to walk in next two weeks. A reputed media source reported that the Congresswoman’s mother Gloria Giffords has said that her daughter was able to sit on chair as well.
Gloria Giffords, reportedly, told a reputed media outlet that Mark Kelly got his wife a book to read. On the other hand, Dr. Peter Rhee said that this can be called a “fluid” situation for the Congresswoman and hence when Gabrielle Giffords would exactly move from the hospital depends on her health condition. Dr. Michael Lemole, one of the neurosurgeons at University Medical Center said that Gabrielle Giffords family wants to ensure that she receives the best care for her treatment.
