Hyderabad, Jan 12 (IANS) Apparently unhappy over the outcome of talks with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and others, the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) Tuesday decided to intensify its campaign for a separate state.
As part of this, the party has decided to press for the acceptance of the resignation of its legislators.
TRS chief K. Chandrasekhara Rao, who met Manmohan Singh and other central leaders last week, made the announcement.
He told reporters that the party had decided to stage sit-ins at the office of assembly Speaker Kirankumar Reddy Jan 18 to ask him to accept the resignations of its legislators.
All 10 legislators of TRS along with 66 belonging to other parties last month gave their resignations to the speaker to mount pressure on the central government to initiate the process for the formation of Telangana state.
Stating that the agitation would not stop till Telangana was carved out of Andhra Pradesh, KCR — as Rao is known — said he would visit all districts of the region to whip up support.
The politburo also appealed to youths not to commit suicide over the delay in the formation of Telangana state.
“Your lives are precious. The youth should take part in the agitation but should not commit suicide,” KCR said.
