Bhopal, Oct 15 (IANS) From allegations of bribery to media persons to mechanical glitches, problems continue to plague Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader L.K. Advani’s Jan Chetna Yatra against corruption and black money as it traversed through Madhya Pradesh.
At Narsinghpur Saturday, the third day of Advani’s yatra in the state, the lift in his rath - a modified bus - got blocked, trapping party spokesman Ravi Shankar Prasad and state president Prabhat Jha.
Later, both were extricated with the help of a ladder.
Advani also visited Gotegaon and Jabalpur. In Jabalpur, women Congress workers who tried to show black flags to him were arrested by local police.
The yatra will reach Bhopal Sunday where Advani will address a rally at Dassehra Maidan.
But, Advani’s yatra faced another problem in Bhopal too. Congressmen opposed a stage being prepared just beside Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee office and began to dismantle it.
“We have been opposing the yatra as Advani does not see corruption in Madhya Pradesh. The BJP wants to welcome him before our office, we could not let it happen,” party spokesman J.P. Dhanopia told IANS.
Later, the BJP organisers also agreed to shift the venue as police reached the scene.
The latest snags came after allegations that BJP leaders sought to bribe journalists to cover the yatra as it entered the state.
