Panaji, Jan 14 (IANS) The Trinamool Congress will not enter into a poll tie-up with the Congress in Goa, a party leader said Saturday.
Speaking to reporters, Trinamool’s state unit chief Wilfred de Souza said he was speaking only to regional parties for a pre-poll alliance.
“I have been assigned the responsibility of tying up with local parties for the purpose of elections. The Trinamool Congress will have no association with the Congress in Goa,” he said.
De Souza, a two-time chief minister was formally appointed last week as the president of the Trinamool with a specific brief to initiate a network with regional parties, even as the relationship between the Congress and the Mamata Banerjee-led party have soured considerably over issues like foreign equity in retail and some provisions of the Lokpal Bill.
