Trinamool ministers ‘non performers’: Buddhadeb (Lead)

Kolkata, March 23 (IANS) West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee Wednesday described the six Trinamool Congress union ministers of state as “non-performers”.
“They have six ministers of state in the union ministry but they don’t work at all. They only roam around. They don’t even feel ashamed while taking salaries. They are a group of non-performers,” said Bhattacharjee while addressing media persons here.
The Trinamool Congress with 19 MPs is the second largest ally in the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA). The Trinamool Congress has six ministers of state and one cabinet minister (Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee) in the union government.
The six Trinamool ministers of state are Sultan Ahmed (tourism), Sougato Roy (urban development), Dinesh Trivedi (health and family welfare), Sisir Adhikari (rural development), Mukul Roy (shipping) and Choudhary Mohan Jatua (information and broadcasting).
Bhattacharjee, while criticising the way Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee, the Trinamool chief, is running the railways, took a dig at the slogan of “change” raised by the opposition.
“What does this slogan of “Change” mean? Does it mean that the amount of land that is in the hands of farmers of our state will change? Does it mean that the land reforms we have launched will change? They want to change the government, come to power and then run the state as the railway department is being run now,” said Bhattacharjee.
“The railway doesn’t have money to implement projects they are only doing inauguration programmes,” said Bhattacharjee.
