Trinamool demands Buddhadeb’s resignation
November 29th, 2010 - 6:11 pm ICT by IANSKolkata, Nov 29 (IANS) The Trinamool Congress Monday demanded the resignation of West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee after he asked his party cadres to shun arrogance and admitted that the ruling Left Front was getting alienated due to the arrogance’ of some cadres.
“When Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee himself has admitted that the tendency of leaders and cadres to boss over the common people has alienated them from the masses, then he should resign as chief minister taking moral responsibility,” said Trinamool heavyweight and opposition leader Partha Chatterjee.
Addressing a rally at Barrackpore of North 24 Pargans district Sunday, Bhattacharjee admitted for the first time that a section of party workers were trying to browbeat the people and this was further alienating the common people from the ruling combine. He also asked the cadres to shun arrogance.
Taking a dig at Bhattacharjee, Chatterjee said: “Instead of blaming his party cadres for their misdeeds, he and his council of ministers should quit.”
“Every few days, he is admitting his mistakes and asking people to give them (Left Front government) another chance. But people are not going to give them any chance. Buddhababu should realise this and put in his papers,” demanded Chatterjee.
