Trinamool, CPI-M blame each other for student’s death
December 17th, 2010 - 10:35 pm ICT by IANSKolkata, Dec 17 (IANS) West Bengal’s ruling Left Front Friday blamed the opposition Trinamool Congress for the death of a student in a clash of rival groups here. The Trinamool denied the allegations and demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) enquiry into the killing.”It is not a simple clash between two students unions. It is a planned murder. Swapan Kole was deliberately murdered by goons of Trinamool Congress and supporters of TMCP (Trinamool Congress Chatra Parishad),” said CPI-M central committee member Mohammad Salim.
Kole, a second year student, died Thurday after receiving serious injuries in clashes between the supporters of the TMCP, the Trinamool’s student arm, and the Students Federation of India, the students’ wing of the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M), in Howrah district.
“We want a CBI enquiry into the killing. We want CBI enquiry into all the killings during the Left regime in Bengal. None of the supporters of TMCP or Trinamool was involved in the killing of Swapan Kole,” Trinamool Congress MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay told media persons here.
Police Friday arrested a person for Kole’s death, a senior official in Howrah district said.
