Timeline of the Purulia arms drop case
June 30th, 2011 - 11:37 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, June 30 (IANS) The Danish High Court in Copenhagen Thursday rejected a plea for the extradition of Niels Holck alias Kim Davy to India in the 1995 Purulia arms drop case. Here is a timeline of the case.
Dec 17, 1995: A Latvian An-26 aircraft drops huge cache of sophisticated arms and ammunition in Purulia district in West Bengal. The aircraft then heads toward Southeast Asia.
Dec 22, 1995: On its return journey, the aircraft is identified and forced to land at Mumbai’s Sahar airport. Five Latvian crews along with arms dealer Peter Bleach arrested. Key conspirator Kim Davy manages to disappear from the airport.
March 20, 1996: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) submits chargesheet against 13 people.
Feb 2, 2000: Judgement pronounced. Peter Bleach and five Latvian nationals convicted to life imprisonment, with Rs.25,000 fine each.
July 22, 2000: The five Latvian crew get presidential pardon and released from jail.
Feb 4, 2004: Peter Bleach gets presidential pardon and released from jail.
April 9, 2010: Kim Peter Davy arrested at his home in Copenhagen.
June 30, 2011: Danish High Court rejects a plea for the extradition of Niels Holck alias Kim Davy to India.
