Tie-up with DMK strong, says Congress
February 10th, 2010 - 2:50 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )New Delhi, Feb 10 (IANS) There were no hiccups in the Congress’ alliance with the DMK and there were no possibilities of the party tying up with the AIADMK ahead of elections in the state next year, a party spokesperson said here Wednesday.
“Our alliance (with the DMK) is strong,” Congress spokesperson Shakeel Ahmed told IANS. He clarified that the alliance continued and “there were no hiccups or misunderstanding between the two parties”.
He also stressed that the DMK was part of the United Progressive Alliance government.
Speculation about the future of the Congress-DMK partnership arose after AIADMK leader J. Jayalalithaa had said in an interview that the people in the Tamil Nadu were very impatient with the DMK and any decision had to be taken by Congress leadership.
