Tibetan government allocates portfolios
September 19th, 2011 - 4:16 pm ICT by IANSDharamsala, Sep 19 (IANS) The Tibetan government-in-exile Monday announced portfolios in the newly-constituted cabinet, with Dolma Gyari named as the new home minister.
Tibetan Prime Minister Lobsang Sangay made the announcement.
Dolma is former deputy speaker of the Tibetan parliament. A three-time former deputy speaker in parliament, Dolma is among the new faces in the cabinet.
Dongchung Ngodup and Tsering Dhundup, both former ministers in the previous cabinet, have been given security and finance portfolios, respectively.
Pema Chhinjor, also a former minister, has been allocated religion and culture, while Dicki Chhoyang has got information and international relations and Tsering Wangchuk health.
The crucial portfolio of education has been kept by Sangay.
Chhinjor, the seniormost member of Sangay’s cabinet, was the minister of security in the 11th cabinet.
The six-member cabinet was announced by Sangay on the first day of the inaugural session of the 15th Tibetan parliament Sep 16.
Based in Dharamsala, the government-in-exile is not recognized by any country. There are about 140,000 Tibetans in exile, over 100,000 of them in India.
