Three-phase civic polls’ dates announced for Chhattisgarh

Raipur, Nov 19 (IANS) Polling for Chhattisgarh civic agencies is to be held Dec 21, 24 and 27 while counting will be held Dec 30, an election official said Thursday.
State Election Commissioner Shivraj Singh announced that polling for six Nagar Palika and 53 Nagar Panchayat will be held in first phase.

The second phase polling will be for 10 Nagar Palika and 51 Nagar Panchayat, and the third and final phase polling will cover 10 Nagar Palika, 15 Nagar Panchayat and state’s all nine Nagar Nigams.

The polling timing in the Maoist-insurgency hit Bastar region to be 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. while for rest of the areas voting to be held between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The election will be held through ballot papers, not by electronic voting machine. The election code of conduct for urban areas in entire state has come into force with immediate effect.
