New Delhi, Aug 27 (IANS) Three Delhi Metro stations close to the Parliament House were shut from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday on the directions of the police, officials said.
The stations, Udyog Bhawan, Central Secretariat and Patel Chowk on the Huda City Centre-Jahangirpuri corridor, were shut to prevent supporters of Anna Hazare reach parliament, where the Lokpal bill was being debated, a police officer said.
“They (police) said the closure is due to security reasons,” a Metro official said, adding that services on all other stations were normal.
“The commuters did not face much problems,” the official added.
He also said that these stations were mainly used by government officials, and since offices were closed for the weekend, the situation was normal.
Four Metro stations in the vicinity of the prime minister’s residence were shut Thursday after Hazare asked people to protest outside his home.
