Jaipur, May 30 (IANS) Three people were killed in Rajasthan Friday when Gujjar community members fighting for affirmative action clashed with the police. The movement for Scheduled Tribe (ST) status took another violent turn with the clash in Sawai Madhopur district, 170 km from here.
“The incident occurred when a section of Gujjars tried to block the road. When the police tried to disperse the mob, they pelted stones. Police then fired tear gas. After that we had to resort to firing,” Inspector General of Police (Bharatpur Range) Umesh Mishra told IANS.
