Thousands Turn Up For ‘One Nation’ Rally

Washington, Oct 3, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The members of the Labor Union and other civil rights groups gathered in Washington DC yesterday to participate in the “One Nation” rally. Held at the Lincoln Memorial, Washington, the ‘One Nation’ rally was organized to raise bring into the forefront various pertinent issues affecting the citizens of United States. The president of NAACP, Ben Jealous, said that the ‘One Nation’ rally signified, that the participants were not an alternative to the Tea Party but an antidote to it.
Ben Jealous invited the members of the Tea party in the rally, despite their certain differences in opinion. All he wanted to establish was an unified America, where there would be jobs for 99 percent of the Americans, rather than tax for 1 percent of them. It aimed for a better America, with improvements in the education systems, and economic growth with joint efforts. There were slogans all over the city that wrote, “Stop Racism Now,” “Stand with Obama,” “Silence GOP Lies,” “The Left is What’s Right”, “Proud to be a Democrat,” “No Cuts to Social Security” and many more that referred to the importance of unity and equality. The organizers have said, that they want to support the Democrats, till and after the Congressional election to be held in November. The South Dakota State Federation of Labor conducted a drive-through voter registration as a significant part of the rally.
The event indeed turned out to be a huge success as thousands of people turned up for the rally. With the aim of participating in the rally, demonstrators from all across the country flew in for the event.
