The House Of The Washington State Passes A Bill To Raise Taxes on Soda Pop And Candy Among Others

This list consists of taxes on beer, bottled water, soda pop and candy. The decision to elevate the taxes has been adopted to facilitate the state to close a $2.8 billion budget deficit.
The legislation was enacted by a 52-44 vote. Not even a solitary Republican voted in favor of the bill. Eight Democrats accompanied the Republicans to express their disapproval of the bill.
The measure that has been enacted by the House constitutes the massiveness of a practically $800 million tax package that the Democrats have stated is required to thwart cuts in state services from journeying too deep.
Democratic representatives in both the House and Senate had mentioned earlier that they were certain of possessing enough votes to endorse the taxes, and of concluding their work by the end of the 30-day special session on Tuesday.
