Thackeray supports Pranab for presidency

Bharatiya Janata Party Mumbai, June 19 (IANS) The Shiv Sena, a key constituent of the Bharatiya Janata Party-led opposition National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Tuesday announced unconditional support to Congress presidential candidate Pranab Mukherjee.

Party chief Bal Thackeray, in a statement here not only announced Shiv Sena’s support to Mukherjee, but also asked all political parties to help elect him (Mukherjee) country’s 13th president unanimously.

“Let bygones be bygones. It is now time to think in terms of national interest. Let us all support Pranab Mukherjee unanimously and show to the world we are united,” Thackeray urged in a signed statement this morning in party mouthpiece ‘Saamna’.

Shiv Sena is a key constituent of the Bharatiya Janata Party-led opposition National Democratic Alliance (NDA), which had been toying with the idea of putting up its own candidate to challenge Mukherjee.
