Mumbai, March 26 (IANS) Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray Saturday lashed out against Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar for nine opposition legislators’ suspensions and said they would meet the same fate as Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi.
In an editorial in the party mouthpiece Saamna, Thackeray expressed anger against the ruling Democratic Front’s move behind suepensions of five Shiv Sena and four Bharatiya Janata Party legislators last Thursday. They were suspended from the state assembly till Dec 31 for creating a ruckus in the house during the budget 2011-12 presentation by Pawar, who holds the finance portfolio.
Thackeray said each legislator represents an average of two million citizens and depriving them of their legitimate rights amounts to injustice to the hopes and aspirations of the masses.
“Now, they are smiling like Libya’s (Muammar) Gaddafi. However, when the bombs started raining in that country at the behest of United Nations, he scampered into his hideout,” Thackeray said.
If Pawar does not mend his ways, he would soon face problems and would not be able to show his face in public, Thackeray said.
