texas-debateTexas, Jan 15, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Texas Gubernatorial debate televised yesterday mainly focused on job cuts and unemployment in Texas. Apart from job loss, two eminent politicians, Governor Rick Perry and his opponent Senator Kay Bailey argued on different issues related to the development of the state in the tenure of Governor Rick Perry. As stated by the sources, Governor Rick Perry, who has been the chief executive of the state for quite a long period, highlighted on the positive development of the state. The governor also cited the jobs that he had created in his office.

Governor Rick Perry, appeared to be extremely confident about the development of Texas in his tenure and in his opening speech of the debate, he referred to Texas and said, “this is the best state in the nation to be living in today.” To substantiate his claim, the governor backed his declaration with some statistics of 2007 and 2008.

Though Governor Rick Perry tried to establish the fact that he had adopted several measures for the development of the state, his opponent Senator Kay Bailey rejected his claim by stating that the state has experienced 300,000 job losses in last year. He exclaimed, so many job cuts over one year is not something to boast of. While the governor highlighted the growth of the state in 2007 and 2008, his opponent was giving more importance to the records of 2009. As the nation is going through an adverse economic condition, job scenario of the state formed the major discussion topic. The next debate between the two politicians is scheduled on 29 January and is presumed that they would focus on other topics in this debate.
