Texas Governor issues statement regarding shooting at state capitol
January 22nd, 2010 - 1:56 pm ICT by BNO NewsAUSTIN, TEXAS (BNO NEWS) – Texas Governor Rick Perry on Thursday issued a statement following the shooting at the state capitol earlier that day.
“I commend the Texas Department of Public Safety troopers who responded swiftly to a shooter on the South Steps of the State Capitol,” said Governor Perry. “Thanks to their efforts no one was injured and the shooter was apprehended immediately and taken in to custody.”
The shooting was committed by Fausto Cardenas, 24, of Houston who has been charged with Deadly Conduct and Discharging a Firearm at Individuals, a third-degree felony.
There was no motive clear at the time of arrest.
