Hyderabad, Sep 30 (IANS) Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief K. Chandrasekhara Rao and other leaders of the Telangana movement Friday left for New Delhi to meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and urge him to take an early decision on formation of a separate state.
KCR, as Rao is popularly known, told reporters that the 30-member delegation would call on the prime minister, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj and other key leaders Saturday.
KCR, a member of parliament, alleged that the state government was trying to give a violent turn to the ongoing agitation.
“The government is conspiring to give a violent turn to the peaceful protest. A peaceful ’sakala janula samme’ (people’s strike) is going on for 15 days but if you see the developments of last three to four days, the government is trying to turn the agitation into a violent one,” he alleged.
The TRS chief referred to the police “attacks” on his party legislators Harish Rao, K.T. Rama Rao and “attempt to murder” on employees’ leader Swami Goud.
“We will brief the prime minister, the leader of opposition and other important leaders of the situation in Telangana. At the same time we will urge the prime minister to take an early decision on the issue of separate state,” he said.
The delegation includes leaders of government employees, lawyers, doctors and various constituents of Telangana Joint Action Committee (JAC), which is spearheading the movement for a separate state.
