July 15, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The ongoing spat between the Tea party and NAACP is gaining enough media attention. A NAACP resolution lashed out at the racist elements in the party which resulted in the party members running to their defense and countering their arguments. The blogs appeared on a site attacking the NAACP. Michael Steele the Republican National Committee Chairman refuted the racism accusation and said that tea party activists are ordinary citizens who are worried about what the government is doing for the country at large.
Jamal Simmons a noted Democratic strategist said that the NAACP resolution points to the thought of many African Americans who do not think too highly of the Tea Party movement at all. The attacks and counter attacks are drawing attention of the political veterans and the media is doing its bit to highlight the issue. A section of political experts feel that the Tea party movement has the potential to reach out to the voters. However, certain elements exist in the party which may result in alienating it from the mass in the long run.
Mark Williams Tea Party Express leader said that NAACP is full of inefficient people and lashed out at it for using the racial angle. However, the Tea Party has been very condemning in its attitude to the US president. A Tea party group in Iowa once compared the present president of the USA with Vladimir Lenin and even Adolf Hitler. This has not gone down well with a section of the residents who feel this is nothing short of vindictive attack. It may work against the party.
