Tea party has unflattering response to Barack Obama’s State of the Union address
January 26th, 2011 - 8:40 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattMinnesota, Jan 26 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Michele Bachmann delivered the Tea Party’s response to President Barack Obama’s state of the union address.
Bachmann’s speech which was broadcasted by CNN shortly after the president’s speech criticized Obama for failing to deliver on the many promises that he made to the people of the United States.
Bachmann said that, “Two years ago, President Obama made promises just like the ones we heard him make tonight. Yet still we have high unemployment, devalued housing prices and the cost of gasoline is skyrocketing.”
The speech was also delivered on the Tea Part Express website. As expected, the views expressed by Bachmann sharply contrasted that of the Democrats.
The Democrats praised the speech by the president and said that it was aimed at tackling the unemployment problems in the United States.
The Tea Party’s response was different from the official response of the Republicans. The official written Republican response was issued by U.S. Rep. John Kline. The statement accused the president of dragging America’s budget deficit to uncharted territories. The Republicans however indicated that if the president goes by the speech that he delivered, they believe the nation may have better fortune.
