donnelSep 15, (THAINDIAN NEWS) It was the grass-root conservatives once again who won the Republican Primary Senate election on Tuesday night. Leaving behind the Republican party favorite nine-term Representative Michael Castle, it was conservative commentator and Tea Party backed candidate Christine O’Donnell who won the Delaware Republican Primary Senate Election. As per reports, Christine O’Donnell was found leading the results with 53% votes in her favor with almost all the precincts reporting. The elected candidate will run for the seat of the Governor in Nov.2 election.

As per reports, the results of the Delaware Republican Primary election turned in favor of Christine O’Donnell three weeks ago when the former presidential candidate Sarah Palin along with Senator Jim DeMint of South Carolina announced their support for Christine O’Donnell. She reportedly received endorsements of Sarah Palin along with a funding of around $150,000 from the Tea Party Express.

The campaign for the primary had brought to the forefront the conflict between the Tea Party and the mainstream party members. Christine O’Donnell has maintained during her campaign that the people of the Republican establishment were trying to drive her out of the primary race to hand over the candidature to Michael Castle. She referred to Michael Castle as “the anointed one”. After the win on Tuesday night Christine O’Donnell said to the party supporters that the voice of the Tea Party has been once again heard in Washington D.C. Although Christine O’Donnell has been able to win the majority, many political analyst have voiced that popular former Governor Michael Castle was better choice whose election would have strengthened the position of the party in the impending November election.
