February 6th, 2011 - 11:20 pm ICT by IANSChennai Feb 6 (IANS) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi Sunday hit back at his arch rival, AIADMK general secretary J. Jayalalithaa, saying that the state’s debt includes monies borrowed during her regime as well.Responding to Jayalalithaa’s charge Saturday that DMK’s achievement was increasing the state’s debit to Rs.1,01,541 crore as on March 31, 2011, Karunanidhi, writing for the DMK newspaper Murasoli, said the amount included the “achievement” of her period as well.
Taking a dig at the communist parties now supporting the AIADMK, he said the state’s debt was lower than those ruled by left parties.
He said the debt went up by Rs.44,084 crore from 2006-07 to 2010-11 and the capital expenditure during the same period was Rs.44,667 crore, signifying that the debt was used in an efficient manner.
