Lucknow, Oct 30 (IANS) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Nitin Gadkari claimed Sunday that internal surveys conducted by certain agencies indicate his party would attain power in Uttar Pradesh in the 2012 assembly elections.

“The surveys clearly reflect that BJP will get the mandate as the public of Uttar Pradesh is looking for a stronger alternative in the form of BJP to free the state from misrule of Bahujan Samaj Party,” Gadkari said at a press conference here.

Reiterating that BJP would not seal any alliance with BSP or Samajwadi Party, he said: “Taking into account the corruption charges being levelled against the ministers of the state and the centre both, people are pinning hope on BJP for the better future of Uttar Pradesh,” he added.

Gadkari decline to divulge the details about the agencies involved in the surveys.

Asked who would be the chief minister of BJP if it comes to power, he evaded a definitive answer.

“We would be contesting the polls under the able guidance of Uma Bharti, Surya Pratap Shahi, Rajnath Singh and Kalraj Mishra. Once we get the majority, we would be taking the final decision regarding the chief ministership only after holding a serious of discussions by our party legislators,” he said.

He accused Congress of projecting BJP as anti-minority.

“We are not against the minority, we are just against terrorists. Congress has projected us in a bad light. Muslims who work with us know the reality,” said Gadkari.

He alleged Congress, Samajwadi Party and BSP are “all one”.

“If a no-confidence motion is brought against the Congress-led government in the future, it would be before everyone to see whether SP and BSP support the government or not,” said Gadkari, who also clarified the party as of now has not taken any decision regarding a no-confidence motion.
