Supporters of MP, legislator clash in Delhi
March 15th, 2010 - 9:12 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, March 15 (IANS) Supporters of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) legislator Asif Mohammad Khan and Congress MP Parvez Hashmi clashed outside a police station following an altercation late Sunday, police said Monday.
According to police, Khan’s supporters started pelting stones as Hashmi’s men tried to enter Jamia Nagar police station to file a complaint. It led to a scuffle between the two groups comprising nearly 150 men. The men damaged doors and flower pots at the police station.
Police reportedly fired in the air to control the mob. Two policemen, head constable Prakash Chand and constable Om Prakash, were injured in the incident.
“Both sides have filed complaints. We have registered a case and are investigating the matter,” Additional Commissioner of Police Virendra Singh told IANS.
No one has been detained or arrested so far, police said.
