Subhas Chakraborty is dead

Kolkata, Aug 3 (IBNS) West Bengal Transport Minister and senior CPI-M leader Subhas Chakraborty is dead, said Left Front chairman Biman Bose Monday here.

“Our favourite CPI-M leader (Chakraborty) is no more…he left us at 11.35 am today (Monday),” Bose told reporters breaking down in tears.

Bose said Chakraborty’s body will be kept in the morgue (peace haven) Monday.

“Tomorrow (Tuesady) we will take him to his old residence at Dum Dum, Salt Lake Stadium, his Salt Lake residence, secretariat Writers’ Building , CPI-M state committee office and zilla committee office at Barasat in North 24 Parganas, before bidding him final farewell ,” Bose said.

Chakraborty, who has been admitted at AMRI Hospital in Salt Lake on July 27 with chest infection, was put on ventilation Monday after his condition started deteriorating from Sunday night.

Around 10.30 am, the doctors said the 67-year-old minister was not responding to any medical treatment.
