Students protest for free Tibet
November 2nd, 2011 - 10:39 pm ICT by IANSMumbai, Nov 2 (IANS) A group of students staged a noisy protest outside the Chinese consulate here Wednesday demanding freedom for Tibet.
“We condemn the government of China for its continued repression in Ngaba, eastern Tibet,” said Bhavita Bhatia, a member of the Students of Free Tibet (SFT).
“In the past seven months we have witnessed 10 acts of self-immolation in Tibet, mostly by young Buddhist monks,” she said.
When the protesters tried to hand over a list of their demands to Consul General Niu Qingbao, it was not accepted.
