Sri Sri to meet Ramdev, hopeful deadlock will end (Lead)

New Delhi, June 10 (IANS) The government Friday got in touch with spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, who is to meet Baba Ramdev. According to an official, Sri Sri said he is hopeful that the yoga guru would end his fast soon.

Union Law Minister Veerappa Moily Friday called Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, who is reaching Haridwar to perform the last rites of his father and would also be meeting Ramdev. The fasting yoga guru has been shifted to a Dehradun hospital after his health deteriorated, a statement said here.

“Moily called Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and he (Moily) is in touch with the PM (prime minister) regarding Baba Ramdev’s fast,” said the statement. “We are hopeful that the deadlock will end by tomorrow.”

Social activist Anna Hazare has also appealed to the government to intervene and to urge Ramdev to end fast.

Ramdev was rushed to a Dehradun hospital for treatment after his health deteriorated.

The yoga guru has lost more than 5.5 kg of weight since Saturday when he went on fast against corruption.
