Special Elections To Be Called For Filling Up Vacancy Left By Christopher Lee

images16Feb 10, (THAINDIAN NEWS) With the sudden resignation of former Congressman Christopher Lee owing to an Internet scandal where semi-nude pictures of the Republican was posted claiming that he had sent them to a woman, the present scenario is flooded with questions on who would the next one to fill the vacancy. No sooner did the former Congressman announced that he stepping down from the post, when names of a list of successors flooded in.

According to sources, some of the names who are most likely to fill in the post include that of Clarence State Assemblywoman Jane Corwin and former State Assemblyman Jack Quinn III. Both of them are already geared up for the race. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that he will soon summon a special election so that the vacancy gets filled up as fast as possible. Jack Quinn III was fast enough to declare that he is certainly eying the seat. Although, currently residing in another district, he said that over the years issues have remained the same for which he is well versed with the problems,and would definitely like be elected as the voice for the region. Another name who is likely to give a strong competition to Jack Quinn is Jane Corwin. Bob Davis, former Erie County Republican who was terribly shocked to hear of the resignation was seen citing the name of Jane Corwin as a good candidate to fill in the position.

Others names coming up for the race are those of Assemblyman Jim Hayes of Amherst, and Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks. Although a Republican dominated district, Democrats too are filled with hopes for attaining the seat. Erie County Democratic Chair Len Lenihan mentioned that they have Kathy Hochul and Mark Poloncarcz as two strong competitors for the post.
