Speaker has to decide on price rise discussion: Sharad Yadav
July 27th, 2010 - 4:03 pm ICT by IANS
New Delhi, July 27 (IANS) Blaming the ruling United Progressive Alliance for the stalemate in parliament, Janata Dal-United (JD-U) chief Sharad Yadav Tuesday said the government was against the adjournment motion discussion on price rise though the decision rests with the speaker.
“It is strange. The government is not ready for discussion. Congress is not ready. The decision is in the hands of the speaker,” Sharad Yadav told mediapersons here.
He said the opposition was keen that Speaker Meira Kumar takes an impartial view on its demand for an adjournment motion discussion on price rise in the Lok Sabha and give a decision after hearing them.
“The entire country took part in the Bharat bandh against price rise,” he said.
Sharad Yadav, who is convenor of the National Democratic Alliance, said all parties who had taken part in country wide shutdown on July 5 against price were together on the issue in the parliament.
“The parties have given notice for adjournment motion. I am talking to various parties,” he said.
Asked about Petroleum Minister Murli Deora defending the hike in prices of petroleum products, the JD-U president said: “The fight will continue.”
Both the houses witnessed adjournments Tuesday following the opposition’s demand for a discussion on price rise.
