New Delhi, July 22 (IANS) Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee adjourned the house for 30 minutes within two minutes of its reconvening at 6 p.m. Tuesday. Chatterjee said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh would reply to the debate on his confidence motion at 6.30 p.m. and the trust vote would be taken at 7.15 p.m.
In his brief announcement, the speaker referred to the bribery allegations levelled by three Bharatiya Janata Party MPs that had led to an uproar and the earlier adjournment. He promised to investigate the matter and take stern action, but the unruly scenes continued and he was forced to adjourn the house again.
