Soren holds durbar: assures public of improved systemSeptember 15th, 2008 - 7:37 pm ICT by IANS
Ranchi, Sep 15 (IANS) Shibu Soren held a ‘janata durbar’ (public court) at his official residence in Ranchi Monday — his first after becoming Jharkhand chief minister last month. Addressing nearly 2,000 people who had come with their grievances, Soren said: “I have to improve the administrative system so that people’s problems can be solved.”
“I have been holding janata durbars for the last 40 years… I understand the grievances and problems faced by the people. My duty is to make the officials responsible… People’s problems will be solved automatically when that happens,” Soren said.
He appealed to the people not to come to the janata durbar over trivial issues. “I am trying to improve the system and your minor issues will be solved by block level officials,” he said.
Soren could hear the grievances of only 167 people. He then asked the remaining to submit their applications to the chief minister’s office promising to sort out the issues in 15 days.
