Soren government yet to set promised 100-days agenda
January 26th, 2010 - 12:53 am ICT by IANSRanchi, Jan 25 (IANS) The Shibu Soren government has yet to set the 100-day agenda of the government after almost a month in power.
Shibu Soren took over as the state’s seventh chief minister - his third stint - Dec 30 and announced he would set a 100 days agenda for the govenment. The state got a full ministry Jan 9 after Soren expanded his cabinet. The portfolios were distributed Jan 12.
“We have yet to set a 100 days agenda. We will soon set 100 days agenda and get clearance from cabinet,” Welfare Minister Haji Hussain Ansari told reporters Monday.
Deputy Chief Minister Raghubar Das, however, told IANS that the focus of the state government is on streamlining the Public Distribution System (PDS) and rectifying the Below Poverty Line (BPL) list.
“The state government is dedicated for development of the state and the officials have been directed to expedite the development work and use the funds,” he said.
The current financial year ends March 31, but according to official data, more than 60 per cent development funds are yet unspent.
“We have no expectation from the present government. What we could expect from the present government which is busy in settling the internal contradictions? The internal contradictions delayed the cabinet expansion and later distribution of portfolios,” said Pradeep Yadav, a legislator of Jharkhand Vikas Morcha-Prajatantrik (JVM-P).
