Sonia warns partymen against infightingMarch 9th, 2009 - 10:13 pm ICT by IANS
New Delhi, March 9 (IANS) With elections to the Lok Sabha announced, Congress president Sonia Gandhi has again warned partymen against infighting, saying the factor had harmed the party during elections.
In a message in the party magazine Sandesh, Gandhi reposed faith in the leadership of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and said the party is looking forward to his continued services.
She said: “I have repeatedly stressed the need for party unity and discipline. More often than not, our internal differences have prevented us from translating the substantial goodwill we enjoy amongst the people into electoral advantage for ourselves.”
“He (Manmohan Singh) has provided wise, sagacious and dignified leadership to the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government. He has listened to all points of view and then taken decisions in the supreme national interest. He commands the great respect both in India and abroad and we look forward to his continued services and the country,” Gandhi said.
