New Delhi, Jan 26 (IANS) Congress president Sonia Gandhi was conspicuously absent in the VVIP enclosure at the Republic Day Parade here and also at President Pratibha Patil’s At Home Wednesday as she was unwell, party official said. Gandhi, who never misses such functions, could not attend as she is down with fever.
“She is not well, she is running fever,” Congress general secreaty Janardan Dwivedi told IANS.
Her son and Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi, however, was seen watching the Republic Day Parade at Rajpath, clapping whenever he felt enthused by a marching contingent or a tableau.
Sonia Gandhi is also the chairman of the ruling United Progressive Alliance (UPA).
