Sonia, Rahul meet Indian medal winners

New Delhi, Oct 16 (IANS) Congress president Sonia Gandhi and her son and MP Rahul Gandhi Saturday met Indian sportspersons who won medals in the Commonwealth Games.
The Gandhis congratulated the winners for bringing glory to the country in the Oct 3-14 Games.
India netted a record haul of 101 medals (38 gold, 27 silver and 36 bronze) to take the second slot behind Australia in the medals tally.
Sports Minister M.S. Gill and Indian chef de mission Bhubaneswar Kalita accompanied the medal winners to 10 Janpath, the official residence of the Gandhis.
The Commonwealth Games Organising Committee chief Suresh Kalmadi and his colleagues were not present.
On Friday, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his wife Gursharan Kaur met the medal winners and their coaches.
