New Delhi, Jan 26 (IANS) Congress president Sonia Gandhi was conspicuously absent at the VVIP enclosure of the Republic Day parade here Wednesday and also at the At Home reception hosted by President Pratibha Patil later.Congress sources could not provide any reason for the absence of Gandhi, who makes it a point to attend all major official functions.
Her son and Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi, however, could be seen watching the Republic Day parade at Rajpath, clapping whenever he felt enthused by a marching contingent or a tableau.
